This is a complex and frustrating topic because it does provide a loophole for people who want to blame their own destructive behaviour on BPD or mental illness. However, there ARE people out there who exhibit these behaviours simply due to mental illness! And they are still wonderful people, who wish more than anything to have loving, stable relationships.
